SOLWODI - Support for women affected by violence

As part of their cross-thematic counselling services, SOLWODI's specialist counselling centres advise single or single-parent women on prospects in their country of origin and on the services offered by SOLWODI's return and reintegration project.

The aim of the project is to enable single and single-parent women to return to their country of origin and to support them in making a new start economically and socially. In cooperation with local non-governmental organisations (NGOs), the project offers comprehensive and individually tailored counselling and support to women in Germany and in the destination countries.

The programme offers individual support for return and reintegration. This support can take the form of contacts with our partner organisations in the destination countries or financial assistance. We generally support clients in addition to their other support programmes. Financial support after return is possible, for example, in the form of:

• Orientation assistance
• Travel and freight cost subsidy
• Subsidy for vocational training or further education
• Subsidy for the induction phase/internship
• Subsidy for setting up a business
• Subsidy for rent
• Subsidy for children's school costs

Whether and to what extent financial support is possible is clarified in individual discussions with SOLWODI's specialist counsellors in Germany. SOLWODI also offers low-threshold coaching sessions in which women are made aware of their resources and can develop a concept for a business idea in their country of origin.

Admission criteria

• Single women or single mothers
• Special needs due to difficult life circumstances or vulnerability

The service is free of charge and available exclusively to women. Consultations are available in German, English, French, Russian, Spanish, Turkish and Albanian. Interpreters are available for other languages as needed.
